"The pews along the south side wall of the church were removed to create a social area within the church and adjacent to the new kitchen. This area was to serve many purposes. We decided that we needed 30 good quality chairs and 4 tables to stay out all the time.
We listened to the congregation. Many of them were sceptical about a social area within church, some were against removing pews, others wanted traditional chairs...and so it went on. After our consultation, a great deal of research went on behind the scenes and in making our decisions we looked at all the different services and events we hold in church. Finally, it was decided that we did not want the traditional oak chairs which weigh between 8 kg and 9.5 kg and therefore are difficult to lift to suit different occasions. But, we did want comfort and ‘a good look’.
And so in the end, after much help from Mike Seward, who was extremely patient and supportive, we decided on a lightweight cafe type chair in oak with an upholstered seat. We chose the THEO chairs and tables. The chairs weigh 3.5 kg which we felt would be easier for handling now and in the future and they come with ‘soft feet’ so as not to damage the refurbished wooden flooring. The choice of upholstery was excellent and the chairs and tables look like they were made for us, a modern addition beside a traditional interior.
Now, everyone is so pleased and entirely satisfied with our choice. People stay on after services, comment on the comfort, love the style, enjoy the look of the area and are very pleased with the colour match to our old pews.
Trinity Church Furniture employees were great, from the beginning to the end of the process. They all did us proud and we could not have achieved better!"
